Tim Rushlow Performs at the Hog’s Breath’s Writer’s Room

Tim
Rushlow, lead singer of the band Little Texas, one of the most
successful bands of the ‘90s, will be appearing at the Hog’s
Breath Saloon’s Writer’s Room Friday and Saturday. Doors
open at 7:30 p.m. and the shows begin at 8. Tickets are $15 in advance
and $20 at the door.
With a new band, called Rushlow, and a new CD, “Right Now,” the
singer-songwriter’s single, “I Can’t Be Your Friend,” climbed
to number 10 on the charts.
Tim Rushlow has been nominated for two Grammy’s, the ACM Artist of the
Year, the CMA award for Album of the Years, the CMT award for Video of the
Year and has toured with Clint Black, Travis Trit, Trisha Yearwood, and Tim
McGraw. These days Rushlow is writing with county music legend Toby Keith.
“I’ve been writing a lot of songs, some with Toby,” Rushlow
said. “I am coming to Key Wes to try some of the new ones before the band
goes on a European tour.”
In Rushlow’s past three European tours, he has played at military bases
throughout Europe and the Middle East.
“We actually landed on the JFK,” he said excitedly, “and played
for the flight crew. When I last played the Hog’s Breath some of the ships
crew flew in and surprised me on stage.”
In December 2004, Rushlow did a 17-day tour for the military,
including Middle East bases.
“Some of them were makeshift bases,” he said, “and we put on
a hell of a performance, a great sound system and light show, for the soldiers.
It’s a rockin’ show.”
Rushlow will perform solo at the Writer’s Room, one of his few stops
before the band’s fourth military tour, and looks forward to presenting
his new songs to the local audience.
“The thing I like about Key West, is people come to listen to the music,” he
said. “It makes a big difference and I look forward to the intimacy of
the upstairs’ room.”
